Former Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has showered rich praise on the star speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who has been hailed as the "eighth wonder of the world" and "once in a generation" talent by the former and current players across the world.
Mhambrey said that Bumrah's exceptional skills didn’t need much coaching after he helped Team India lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in the West Indies last month. Well, whether it's Tests, ODIs, or T20Is, the Indian pacer stands in a league of his own, and he is the rescue man for his team.

With the new ball in hand, Bumrah can swing it effortlessly across all formats, and when the swing isn't available, the Yorker specialist swiftly adapts his strategy within a few deliveries. Whenever the Indian cricket team needs wickets, Bumrah never disappoints, working his magic flawlessly.
Since his comeback in August 2023 after an injury, Bumrah has been instrumental in the Indian cricket team's success across the formats. He has shone brightly under the management of Rahul Dravid and his support staff, including bowling coach Mhambrey.
In the ICC Cricket ODI World Cup 2023, Bumrah was instrumental in India’s runner-up finish, taking 20 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 4.06. His remarkable performance continued in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where he took 15 wickets in 8 matches at a stellar economy rate of 4.17.
Bumrah's efforts were crucial in ending India's 11-year ICC title drought, helping them lift the T20 World Cup trophy, and he was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding efforts.
Jasprit Bumrah's magic needs no fine-tuning: Paras Mhambrey
Well, Mhambrey played a significant role in refining Bumrah's skills, contributing to his evolution into one of the greatest bowlers in world cricket. However, the former Indian bowling coach believes there is little coaching needed for the 30-year-old pacer. He also hailed Bumrah as a once-in-a-generation bowler who excels in all three formats of the game.
Paras Mhambrey was quoted as saying by journalist Vimal Kumar: “I don't think I have had to do much with him. I would love to say that I've worked on him a lot as a bowling coach. What better than Bumrah performing and I taking the credit? But I don't. I've said in the past... he is a once-in-a-generation bowler. India has produced great bowlers, and more will come, but Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler in all three formats.”
He added, “Be it the red ball, ODI, or T20I, he is No1. He has exceptional skills. He understands how bowling well, has clear plans. When I talk to him, I realize that he has a very clear mindset and knows what he is going to do. He understands when a batter is uncomfortable facing him. He then tries to exploit the situation. He will pick up small nuances to guess what the batter is trying to do.”
Notably, Mhambrey is likely to be replaced by the former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan, with the former South African pacer Morne Morkel’s name also doing the rounds for India’s bowling coach role under Gautam Gambhir’s era. Gambhir was recently named India’s new head coach.
