Jasprit Bumrah injury scare shocks Shubman Gill

Indian bowlers have looked miserable in the ongoing match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against the English team.

The leader of the pack, Jasprit Bumrah, has also not looked in good rhythm and has remained wicketless. Meanwhile, on the second day of the play, Bumrah left the Indian team management and fans worried when he left the field.

India took the second new ball after the second ball of the 91st over, and Bumrah bowled a soft 92nd over with his deliveries ranging between 125 kmph to 130 kmph.

Just after the over, drinks were called, and Bumrah straightaway walked off the field. Reportedly, Sai Sudharsan returned with some information about Bumrah from the dressing room, which left Shubman Gill surprised.

"Sai Sudharsan just coming in with some info from the dressing room about Bumrah. Gill looks surprised," reported Kaushik, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

It's a good sign that Bumrah is back - Ricky Ponting

Later, Jasprit Bumrah returned to the field and, despite having some fitness troubles, gave it all on the field. While fielding, he clutched his ankle and winced in pain.

Speaking on-air, Ricky Ponting said that India would he delighted to have Bumrah back on the field as his injury would have been a big blow to the side.

"It's a good sign that Bumrah is back on the field, but it's a bad sign that he went off the field. However, it looks like he is grimacing a little bit. Doesn't look comfortable; he is reaching down at his left ankle. Keep those fingers crossed for India's sake that he can come back and bowl straightaway. He has been off for a few overs now. I think he will probably have to serve another 10-12 minutes before he can bowl," legendary Australia skipper Ricky Ponting said on air.

I have to say Jasprit Bumrah has looked okay and playable today - Michael Vaughan

Seeing Bumrah not being at his best, former England skipper Michael Vaughan found the opportunity to take a dig at the pace spearhead and said that the pacer has not been able to generate pace like Ben Stokes.

"I have to say Jasprit Bumrah has looked okay and playable today. He hasn’t got that oomph that he got out of the surface at Lord’s when he bowled that incredible spell and it’s the pace that Bumrah is not able to generate, unlike Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer," Vaughan said on the BBC.

"India haven’t done the research well enough at Old Trafford. There’s two things that work here – real quality spin or pace. Kuldeep Yadav should have been played and Prasidh Krishna bowls 10 mph quicker," he added.
