Jasprit Bumrah has once again proved why he has been touted as the world’s best bowler, as the star pacer is leading the Indian cricket team from the front in the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

The opening Test of the ongoing five-match Test series began with high drama at the Optus Stadium in Perth, as the Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian bowling attack is aiming to skittle Australia for under 100 on Day 2 of the game on Saturday, November 23. Day 1 saw a flurry of wickets, with 17 falling in total at the Optus Stadium.

After India managed 150 in their first innings, Australia crumbled under relentless pressure, stumbling to 67 for seven by stumps in Perth. Bumrah was the star of the day, tearing through Australia’s top order with a fiery four-wicket haul, which was their most disastrous start at home in recent years.

Jasprit Bumrah’s magic stuns Australia, secures 11th five-wicket haul in style

After giving a shock to the Australia cricket team on Day 1, Jasprit Bumrah started Day 2 with another big wicket, dismissing the wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey for just 21 runs off 31 balls at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Coming round the wicket to the left-hander, India’s stand-in captain delivered a masterpiece right at the start of Day 2. His very first ball claimed the most crucial wicket to secure his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Bumrah pitched it short of a length. The ball kicked up with a bounce and moved slightly away off the seam, tempting Alex Carey into a loose shot outside off. Alex Carey edged it straight to Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who did not make any mistake while completing the stunning catch behind the stumps.

Bumrah, with his arms raised and a confident smile on his face, jogged back, seemingly stating that this is how it's done. It is a major blow to Australia, but a special one for the Indian speedster, as it was his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. India’s stand-in captain raised the ball to soak in the well-deserved cheers.

After another remarkable display with the ball, the Indian cricket fans have been showering rich praise on Jasprit Bumrah, with many calling him the GOAT, the Father of Australia, the Kohinoor, and the world’s best bowler.

Here's how fans react to Bumrah's masterclass in Perth:

Jasprit Bumrah equals South African legend Dale Steyn's rare Test record

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah achieved a milestone, equalling a rare record held by South African legend Dale Steyn during the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. In the 7th over of Australia's first innings, Bumrah trapped Steve Smith lbw, sending the star batter back for a golden duck.

With this dismissal, Bumrah became only the second bowler after Dale Steyn to dismiss the iconic Australian batter for a golden duck in Test cricket. On a lively Perth pitch, Bumrah is on fire, this was the 11th duck in Smith's 196 Test innings and only the second time he fell for a golden duck, with Steyn achieving the feat back in 2014.

Notably, Australia’s current score stands at 92/9 after 38 overs at the Optus Stadium.
