Jasprit Bumrah is set to rejoin the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp ahead of their upcoming IPL 2025 clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The franchise confirmed his return through an official announcement on their social media platform, which generated excitement among fans ahead of the fixture.
Bumrah has received medical clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. However, he needs to go through match simulations before being declared fully fit for competitive action. The 31-year-old pacer could return to the playing XI for the Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Mumbai Indians shared a video titled ‘Ready to Roar’ on social media, announcing Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the squad. The star pacer is expected to miss the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7, Monday.
“Angad, let me tell you a story. In 2013, there was a cub who entered this jungle. A jungle full of runs, sixers, and boundaries. Where everyone was scared, he showed courage. Over the years, he fought many battles. He fought for survival, he fought for his pride," Sanjana Ganesan, Jasprit Bumrah's wife, said.
"Then he lost, but never gave up. These battles left him with scars. But these scars didn’t stop him. Once a cub, now the lion. The lion is back. He is back to be the king of this jungle again,” she added.

Jasprit Bumrah's Return Is a Much-Needed Boost for MI
Speaking at the toss before Mumbai Indians' clash against Lucknow Super Giants, skipper Hardik Pandya hinted at Jasprit Bumrah’s return, saying, “Jasprit should be back soon.” Bumrah's return is a much-needed boost for MI, who have had a rough start to the T20 tournament with three losses in four matches.
The veteran cricketer’s return not only strengthens their bowling attack but also adds experience and composure in pressure situations. Known for his pinpoint yorkers and ability to shift momentum, the 31-year-old pacer could be the turning point Mumbai needs to get their campaign back on track.
Jasprit Bumrah The Backbone of Mumbai Indians' Bowling Attack
Bumrah has been a vital figure in Mumbai Indians’ bowling unit since his debut in 2013. He has taken 165 wickets across 133 matches. The pacer missed only the 2023 season due to a back injury. He suffered the injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney and underwent rehabilitation.
Mumbai Indians retained him for ₹18 crore ahead of the mega auction — the highest amount spent by the franchise. MI handed IPL debuts to two fast bowlers — Satyanarayana Raju and Ashwani Kumar. While Raju is yet to make an impression this season, Kumar took a four-wicket haul against KKR.
