Former Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik heaped a lot of praise on Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and hailed him as the Virat Kohli of bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently in the West Indies for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, was in action yesterday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The Indian team was taking on Afghanistan in their opening Super 8 match which eventually proved to be a one-sided affair. Rohit Sharma's Men in Blue were the ones who walked away with the victory by a margin of more than 40 runs.

The Indians will be going head-to-head against Bangladesh and bitter-rivals Australia in their last two Super 8 matches on 22nd and 24th June. A win for team India against the Bangla Tigers will take them through to the next round, which is the semi-finals but the biggest test that is awaiting at the moment is the match against the Aussies.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah among others will have to step up and click at the same time. It's the only way the Indian team can beat the Aussies, who registered a dominating victory over Bangladesh in their opening Super 8 match earlier today. Ahead of IND Vs AUS, 2009 T20 WC winner Shoaib Malik said positive things about Bumrah.

Shoaib Malik says Jasprit Bumrah can perform in every conditions

While speaking to Ten Sports yesterday, Shoaib Malik applauded Jasprit Bumrah for the kind of bowler he has been since his debut. Malik started by claiming that Bumrah is the Virat Kohli of bowling. Just like Kohli helps the Indian team during adverse situations and helps pull off unthinkable victories, Bumrah is also a player who shows up in difficult situations.

Shoaib Malik loves the fact that Jasprit Bumrah can perform in every type of condition and calls it an exclusive skill. That bowling the old, new, and semi-new ball is not everyone's cup of tea but Bumrah's special ability to do so makes him a complete bowler.

"See, like Virat has performed over the years and has helped in winning matches, I would say (Jasprit) Bumrah is the Virat of bowling. All of us keep talking about his exclusive skill to be able to bowl well in every condition. With the new, old as well as semi-new ball, has got a good slower ball, I mean he is a complete bowler." - Malik told Ten Sports.

The former Pakistan cricketer further added that Jasprit Bumrah is spot-on across all formats and also highlighted Rohit Sharma's praise for him. Shoaib Malik also said that there are consistent bowlers in other teams of the world as well but when it comes to Bumrah, he always showcases prime form in major tournaments.

"Not just about this format but we talk about all three formats, he is spot on. Rohit Sharma was praising him in the post-match ceremony. There are bowlers in other teams who are consistent but he is the type of bowler who never goes out of form in major tournaments, he is always in form. He doesn't get thrashed by batters and he is someone who excels in every situation, and condition." - Shoaib Malik concluded.
