Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has shared his excitement about cricket being included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The pace bowling spearhead opened up about representing the Indian national cricket team in the global event and admitted that he no longer sets long-term goals.
Cricket is set to return to the Olympic Games after more than a century-long absence. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved cricket as a sport for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Cricket will be featured in the Olympics for the first time since it was last played at the 1900 Paris Games.

In a conversation on the Beyond23 Cricket podcast with Michael Clarke, Jasprit Bumrah spoke about managing his workload in the coming years. Bumrah said that he looks forward to the opportunity to participate in the Olympics in 2028.
“I’ve heard cricket is coming to the Olympics, and that’s something I’m really looking forward to. Who would’ve thought? It’s very exciting. I’m looking forward to that whenever we get an opportunity to do,” Bumrah said.
“I don’t set goals anymore because every time I have, I haven’t been able to fulfil them. I try to enjoy the game because that’s why I started playing it in the first place. I take it one day at a time and collect memories because at the end of it all, that’s what I’ll remember,” he added.
Jasprit Bumrah Set to feature for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 Playoffs
Mumbai Indians (MI) have secured a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs by finishing in the top four of the points table. Jasprit Bumrah has played a key role in their campaign this season and aims to keep up his form in the crucial knockout matches.
MI are aiming for their sixth IPL title, having won the trophy previously in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. They currently hold the joint record for most IPL championships, sharing five titles with their rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Eliminator at Mullanpur on Friday, May 30. The winner will advance to play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2, while the losing team’s season will end.
Jasprit Bumrah Returned to IPL 2025 After Missing Champions Trophy
Jasprit Bumrah made his IPL 2025 comeback after missing the Champions Trophy due to a back injury sustained during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The injury sidelined him for three months. Bumrah is expected to play no more than three matches in England to manage his workload.
The England tour marks Bumrah’s third Test series in the country, where he has taken 37 wickets in eight matches (excluding the 2021 World Test Championship final) at an average of 23.78. Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh will be supporting Bumrah in England.
