India National Cricket Team Test captain Shubman Gill has made a massive revelation on the workload management of the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming home Test series.
Shubman Gill stated that they don't have any pre-decided plan regarding Jasprit Bumrah's workload management and would assess the situation on a match-to-match basis.
Jasprit Bumrah performs decently in the Asia Cup 2025
Jasprit Bumrah was most recently seen in action in the Asia Cup 2025, which the India National Cricket Team won under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav without losing any matches.
The pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was making his comeback into the Indian T20I setup after a long period, and it took him some time to get into full rhythm for the matches.
In the first few games, Jasprit Bumrah didn't look good while bowling, and it seemed like he was undercooked. However, as the tournament progressed, he got back to his original form.
Bumrah featured in five matches in the Asia Cup 2025 against UAE, Pakistan, and Bangladesh while skipping the matches against Sri Lanka and Oman. He was the sole specialist pacer in the matches that he played and finished the competition with 7 wickets at an average of 19.28 and an economy of 7.43.

The call on Bumrah will be match-to-match - Shubman Gill
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the first Test against West Indies, which starts on Thursday in Ahmedabad, Shubman Gill stated that they are tempted to play an extra pacer.
"You will get to know the XI tomorrow. Conditions and weather are tempting to play an extra seamer. We will take a call tomorrow after seeing the moisture in the pitch," he told reporters, as quoted by TOI.
When asked about an update on Bumrah, who played three out of five Tests on the England tour, Shubman Gill said that this time, no pre-decided plan is being followed.
"The call on Bumrah will be match to match, depending on how much he has bowled in a Test and how the bowlers feel. Nothing is decided yet,” he said.
For batters, it is more mental fatigue than physical - Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill has also been playing a lot of cricket after becoming a three-format player, but he is not too concerned about his workload and is fully fresh ahead of the West Indies Tests.
“On playing so much cricket, I will take it week by week. I am not looking too far ahead. For batters, it is more mental fatigue than physical—unlike bowlers. Right now, I am fresh," Gill said.
Shubman Gill further issued a colossal warning to the Roston Chase-led West Indies, saying that India would play tough cricket and dominate in the series.
"No easy options… we want to play tough cricket. Every Test in England went deep. We are ready to play that tough cricket. We are playing in India after a year; any series is important. We will be looking to dominate the series," he said.
