India star Jasprit Bumrah had a stunning campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup last month. He played a huge role as India won the tournament after a gap of 17 years.

Jasprit Bumrah was by far the best bowler in the competition and was eventually adjudged the Player of the Tournament. Throughout the campaign, he gave the team crucial breakthroughs and maintained a stunning economy rate as well. The right-arm pacer began his campaign with back-to-back Player of the Match performances against Ireland and Pakistan and did not look back.

He eventually finished the tournament as the third-highest wicket-taker behind Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi and teammate Arshdeep Singh. While both Farooqi and Arshdeep picked up 18 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah claimed 15 scalps while maintaining a stunning economy rate of just 4.17.

With the World Cup now done and dusted, Jasprit Bumrah has revealed the details of a light-hearted interaction that he had with the Canadian players during the competition. India's final group game against Canada was abandoned due to a wet outfield.

The India pace spearhead revealed how the Canadian players jokingly told him that he would have shared the dressing room with them had he decided to leave India for Canada. Earlier, Bumrah had revealed that his family wanted him to move to Canada for further studies instead of toiling hard in cricket.

"In this World Cup, I met the Canadian team, and they jokingly asked me that you know if you would have come here, we would have played the World Cup together. That was a conversation that was funny to have," Jasprit Bumrah told the Indian Express.

Jasprit Bumrah also shared how his family wanted him to leave cricket and build his career by relocating to Canada. The star pacer said that his mother was concerned about his cricket aspirations and wanted him to give up on the game for further studies.

"My uncle used to live in Canada, now he lives in America. My mother had given me a few years that okay, you can try whatever you do in this cricket because she'd think that so many people play the sport, how will you get there, we don't have a lot of means to give you and you've not really done this since you were a child. We thought okay, we'll give it a shot, and then probably I will go and study in Canada and try to make a living there," said Bumrah.

Meanwhile, Bumrah has not played any competitive game since the T20 World Cup last month. He has been rested for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka and is likely to return to action when India host Bangladesh in September.
