India National Cricket Team premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has issued a colossal warning to the England National Cricket Team batters ahead of the high-voltage five-match Test series.
Jasprit Bumrah said that the ultra-aggressive brand of cricket played by the English team will give the Indian bowlers more opportunities to pick up wickets and run through the opposition.
India star Jasprit Bumrah not to play all Tests against England
Jasprit Bumrah was one of the candidates to take up the India Test captaincy after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the longest format of the game.
He served as the deputy of Rohit Sharma in Test cricket and led India in a couple of matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Down Under.
However, reports suggested that he has himself refused to become India Test captain and informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors that he won't be available for all five Test matches against England.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed the reports of Bumrah's unavailability, saying that they expect him to feature in three or four red-ball games in England.
Although Bumrah won't be captaining the Indian team, he will definitely be leading the bowling attack of the side in the high-octane series.
I always love bowling with the Dukes ball - Jasprit Bumrah
In a recent interaction with Michael Clarke, the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah labeled playing in England as a 'different challenge' but added that he loves bowling with the Dukes ball. He also highlighted the unpredictability of the conditions during the Test matches in England.
"Playing in England is always a different challenge,” he said in a chat with Michael Clarke on the Beyond23 Cricket YouTube channel.
“I always love bowling with the Dukes ball. But I don't know how much the Dukes ball is doing right now because there's always constant changes to the ball. But the weather, the swinging conditions. And then when the ball becomes soft, there's always a challenge. So I always look forward to playing in England.”
They're playing an interesting style of cricket - Bumrah
Bumrah further spoke about England's Bazball style of cricket in Tests, asserting that it is quite interesting, but not something he understands too much. He also fired a warning to the Ben Stokes-led team about the ultra-aggressive cricket bringing their downfall against the Indian bowlers.
"They're playing an interesting style of cricket which is interesting because I don't really understand it too much,” Bumrah said with a tone indicating Indian bowlers are not intimidated.
“As a bowling unit, we always feel confident that when the batters are being ultra-aggressive, on a given day, anybody could run through and get wickets," he added.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah & Co. had already conquered the Bazballers 4-1 in the home Test series in 2024, but playing away from home would be challenging. Bumrah has got a good record in Test matches in England as he has bagged 37 wickets in 9 games.
