With England taking a 2-1 lead in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, all eyes are now on India's biggest weapon, Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the fourth Test at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.

As both teams prepare for the fourth Test, pressure is mounting on the Indian cricket team management to bring back Jasprit Bumrah in Manchester to have any chance in the Test series.

There were reports that Bumrah was only scheduled to feature in the first, third, and fifth matches of the ongoing five-match Test series. But the current situation may force the Indian think tank to rethink its workload management strategy for Bumrah.

With England just one win away from clinching the first version of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Dasgupta feels India cannot afford to gamble any further. The fourth Test is now a must-win, and the commentator believes that leaving out the world’s premier fast bowler at this stage when India is trailing by 1-2 in the Test series could be a haunting mistake.

Deep Dasgupta says India must play Jasprit Bumrah or risk losing the Test series

He pointed out that there is an eight-day gap before the final test, which gives Bumrah enough time to recover and recalibrate, but the bigger question is whether the fifth test will even matter if India doesn’t fight back in Manchester. The former Indian cricketer said that the team will need their biggest match-winner firing on all cylinders in Manchester.

Deep Dasgupta was quoted as saying by Star Sports: “Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test, absolutely yes. I've heard rumors that the plan for him was to play in the first, third, and fifth tests. But now, when India is 1-2 behind, the fourth Test becomes very, very crucial.

You would definitely want the world's best bowler to play. There is an eight-day gap between the two tests. It remains to be seen whether the fifth test is still relevant after the fourth test, but the relevance of the fourth test is considerable.”

Anil Kumble urges India to play Jasprit Bumrah in both remaining Tests

Meanwhile, former India head coach Anil Kumble believes that Jasprit Bumrah should play in both of the remaining tests against England. With India trailing in the five-match Test series 1-2, Kumble feels Bumrah’s presence is very important. He suggested that Bumrah’s workload can be handled better by giving him a break during the next series at home against the West Indies.

Anil Kumble said on JioHotstar, “I think Bumrah should play both the Test matches. I know he said, 'I'm only going to play three.' We have a long break after this. You don't need to play the home series. ”
