The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has provided a massive update on the coaching contract duration of the India National Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid.
The contracts of the Indian coaching staff led by Rahul Dravid ended after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. India National Cricket Team performed brilliantly in the World Cup and won 10 matches on the trot heading into the summit clash. However, Rohit Sharma & Co. failed to do well in the final and faced a heartbreaking loss at the hands of Australia.
Despite India not winning any major ICC trophies in Rahul Dravid’s tenure, the BCCI decided to extend his contract. On Friday, November 29, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the extension of contracts for head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip.
However, during the announcement the governing body didn’t reveal the duration of the contract extension. When Rahul Dravid was asked by the reporters about coaching contract duration, he said that he is yet to sign his contract.
“I haven’t yet signed a contract with the BCCI but had discussions on tenure. Once I get the papers, I will sign,” Rahul Dravid had earlier said after the World Cup and contract review meeting.

Now, Jay Shah has provided a major update on Dravid’s coaching contract duration. He said that they haven’t decided on the duration of Dravid’s contract extension and will make the decision once Team India return from the South Africa tour.
“Length of Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India head coach to be decided after team returns from South Africa,” said the BCCI secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Auction.

Rahul Dravid-led coaching staff has already reached the Rainbow Nation for the multi-format series. The India tour of South Africa 2023-24 consists of a three-match T20I series, a three-match ODI series, and a two-match Test series. The Men In Blue last toured South Africa in the 2021-22 season and didn’t have a good outing. They will be looking forward to performing better this time around.
