ICC President Jay Shah is set to present the medals after Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that he will miss Finals Day due to prior commitments. The medal ceremony will also feature Nisshin Mayor Hiroki Kondo and Olympic Council of Asia Executive Board Member Nilo Jayatolake.
India will face Pakistan for the men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, with the final scheduled in Nisshin on Saturday, October 3. The final will be the first India-Pakistan men’s cricket gold-medal clash at the Asian Games, with both teams reaching the summit clash through their respective semi-final wins.
Mohsin Naqvi to Miss India vs Pakistan Final in Nisshin
The Asian Cricket Council confirmed that Mohsin Naqvi will miss both the gold and bronze medal matches in Nisshin because of prior commitments. The ACC also addressed his absence in an official post on X:
"ACC President, Mr Mohsin Naqvi, will miss Finals Day at #AsianGames2026 due to prior commitments, but sends his very best wishes to all four teams ahead of the Gold and Bronze Medal Matches."

Recent India-Pakistan meetings have been marked by controversy over trophy presentations. India did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after winning the 2025 final against Pakistan. The Indian women’s team also did not receive the trophy from Naqvi after winning the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup.
Jay Shah to Present Medals Alongside Japanese and Sri Lankan Officials

The three officials are listed for the cricket medal presentation at Korogi Sports Park. Their presence will provide both international and local representation at the ceremony after the absence of Mohsin Naqvi was confirmed.
The presentation will follow the India-Pakistan final, which begins at 10:00 AM IST. The winner will take the men’s cricket gold medal, while the defeated team will receive silver.

India vs Pakistan Final: What to Expect in Gold Medal Clash
India reached the final after producing a 124-run win over Sri Lanka. After posting 169/7, they bowled Sri Lanka out for just 45. Ishan Kishan scored an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, while 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi impressed on his Asian Games debut with 38 runs.
Pakistan booked their place in the final by beating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened semi-final. The match was reduced to 13 overs per side, with Bangladesh scoring 111/7 before Pakistan chased the target in 11.3 overs.
India are the defending Asian Games champions after winning gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Games. Pakistan, meanwhile, will be aiming to win their first men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games.
Weather has been a major factor throughout the tournament, with all four quarter-finals abandoned because of rain. However, the forecast for Saturday is much more encouraging. AccuWeather predicts sunny conditions in Nisshin, with temperatures around 25°C and no significant rain threat.
If the final is abandoned without a result, India and Pakistan will share the gold medal, while no silver medal will be awarded. This differs from the 2023 Hangzhou Games, when India received the gold after the final against Afghanistan was washed out and their higher T20I ranking was used to determine the champion.
