India is on their 5-match tour to England in the longest format of the game. This is the first time since 2022 that the Indian side is playing on English soil with the red ball.
After having started well in the series, England, the host side that won at Headingley, faced a crushing defeat at the iconic venue of Edgbaston.
Indian skipper Shubman Gill single-handedly had a dominating show in Birmingham, as the batter, who amassed 430 runs in the match itself, led India to their first Test match victory at Edgbaston.
England was under immense pressure at Lord's to pull the series back in their favour, and under pressure, English skipper Ben Stokes toiled unimaginably to give England the much-needed lead in the series.
Joe Root makes a massive revelation about Ben Stokes
The 34-year-old legendary English batsman and former skipper, Joe Root, issued a massive statement on the current skipper, Ben Stokes. He made it clear that Stokes doesn't listen to anyone on managing his workload, including the great batter.
Joe Root and Stokes played together for most of their career for England; a glimpse of their legacy was seen at Lord's as well. Ben Stokes had a huge impact on a tricky Lord's surface, where his most significant contribution came with the bat.
"He doesn't always listen to me. He didn't listen to me when I was captain. But, no, he knows what he's doing, and he's got a good handle on where he's at physically," Joe Root said as quoted by the BBC while also revealing his worries for the all-rounder.
"It was an incredible effort. He's just desperate to be the man and make things happen. Incredible effort to be able to do that. I was just panicking that he wasn't going to make it through the game after a couple of bad injuries, but he clearly trusts his body now," added the English veteran Joe Root.
Root and Stokes were part of crucial partnerships at Lord's
When England was pushed to bat first on the tricky Lord's surface, where the conditions were very different from the previous two games ass the pitch in the previous two games was much flatter.
England's top order looked unsettled across both innings, as a result of which the two veterans had to contribute significantly. Stokes might not have had an individual record, but he contributed to two half-century partnerships alongside Joe Root.
Stokes scored 44 and 33 across the two innings at Lord's. He bowled 44 overs across the two innings and picked 5 vital wickets and was also involved in Rishabh Pant's run-out, a turning moment in the game.

England will start as favourites in Manchester
England will advance to another iconic venue of Manchester, where they have again not won a single game in the history of Indian cricket. With such a disastrous record in Manchester, Shubman Gill and co. will have to produce a very big impact in the match.
England will enter Manchester for the fourth Test as the favourites, and if Jasprit Bumrah, the great Indian pacer, is rested for the upcoming fixture, then that would increase England's chances further. The fourth Test is scheduled to be played from July 23rd.
