Former England captain Michael Vaughan has a penchant to kick up a storm on social media via his controversial tweets.

In the past few months, Vaughan has tweeted several controversial statements, the most famous being his prediction that Australia will beat India in all three formats of the game during the latter’s recent tour Down Under.

As it turned out, Vaughan had to eat the humble pie as Team India scripted a triumph for the ages after they backed up their T20I series win with the successful defense of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

With India currently locking horns with England, Michael Vaughan has been at it again. Prior to the series, he had predicted that India will win the Test rubber 3-0. However, he made a U-turn following a brilliant performance by the visitors in the Chennai Test thus far, claiming that England has a sniff in this series.

Vaughan kicked up yet another storm on Twitter on Sunday when he quoted the averages of Virat Kohli and Joe Root against spin and especially off-spin to state that his fellow Yorkshireman is a better play of spin than the Indian superstar.

Vaughan argued that Root averages 70.7 against spin as compared to Virat, who averages 69. He then wrote that since Joe Root averages 71.2 against off-spin as compared to Virat Kohli’s average of 53.1, the English captain is better than the legendary Kohli.

The former English skipper tweeted the same following Virat Kohli’s dismissal against oft-spinner Dom Bess for a score of 11. Joe Root, meanwhile, is in the form of his life following three daddy hundreds in his last three Tests in Sri Lanka and India.
