Former Sri Lanka cricket Kumar Sangakkara issued a warning to Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar after Joe Root's sensational run in Test cricket. He said that the England batter could break Tendulkar's record of most runs in the longest format of the game.

Kumar Sangakkara's comment came during the ongoing third Test match between the England National Cricket Team and the West Indies National Cricket Team. The dead rubber final game of the series between the teams is taking place at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, which kick-started on 26th July.

Kumar Sangakkara was in awe of the way Joe Root batted in the ongoing game. The England batter, who slammed a century in the last game, made sure that he continued his golden touch with the bat and bailed his team out of trouble after they were left reeling at 54/5 in response to West Indies' 282 runs.

Joe Root, in the last Test match against West Indies, surpassed Shivnarine Chanderpaul to become the 8th leading run-getter in the Tests. But in the ongoing game, he made sure that he went one step ahead and went past Brian Lara's tally to become the 7th leading run-getter in the longest format of the game.

Joe Root, who has the second most Test tons for England, has played another vital innings for the team in the ongoing game. The right-hander has slammed a blistering half-century, and with the way he is batting, he looks all set for another ton and would be keen to carry on and take his team to the big total and take a first-innings lead to Birmingham.

Joe Root has been shattering records for fun in Test cricket. The right-hander has been extremely consistent for the team and is scoring runs for fun. He is about to surpass the 12000-run mark in the longest format of the game and is just around 3000 runs away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most tons.

As Joe Root has been going great guns in the ongoing Test match against West Indies National Cricket Team, Kumar Sangakkara on air praised the batter. He believes that the England National Cricket Team batter can break Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs and most Test matches.

He said: "The way Joe Root is batting, Sachin Tendulkar's 15,921 runs and 200 Tests record could be in danger".
