England‘s already under-strength team has received another significant blow as Jofra Archer is likely to miss the entire summer. Jofra Archer had not found a spot in the squad for the first two Tests against India, with his recovery was probably going to take more time. However, Archer has not gained the required level of fitness and could undergo surgery again.

Jofra Archer had to undergo elbow surgery that resurfaced during the India tour, leading him to miss the ODI series and IPL 2021. However, the 26-year old’s recovery seemed in place after featuring for Sussex in the T20 Blast, but he revealed he was a month away from feeling 100 per cent fit. Archer was also in line to represent the Southern Brave in The Hundred and the Royal London Cup to build up his workload ahead of the Test series.

Unfortunately, the injury on the joint of his bowling appears to have returned, restricting Archer from participating in the much-anticipated Test series against India. The hosts are not only without Archer, but also Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes against the second-best Test team in the world. Woakes’ heel injury has kept him out of the leg, while Stokes oped for an indefinite break from the sport.

While Jofra Archer has a decent Test record, he is an invaluable bowler when it comes to the shortest format. The right-arm paceman would be crucial to England’s chances in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, where he earned the man of the tournament for his bowling exploits in IPL 2020. Archer could be a lethal weapon in the fast and bouncy pitches in Australia, where England will compete to retain the Ashes urn from December.
