Afghanistan National Cricket Team head coach Jonathan Trott has put an end to all rumors of internal rifts ahead of the T20I series against Zimbabwe, confirming that the communication issues with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have been completely resolved.

Earlier, Jonathan Trott had expressed concerns about miscommunication over team selection and team management discussions, but now the Afghanistan head coach has taken a dramatic U-turn, stressing that everything is now back on track.

Jonathan Trott told reporters ahead of the first T20I: “Had a good discussion—the ACB, myself, and all the stakeholders and top management—and we've come to an agreement on how to move forward. I think it's been resolved, and any miscommunication or misunderstanding has been sorted out.”

He continued, “The communication is now in place, and we're all working together, building up for a strong Zimbabwe side and looking beyond that to the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent. I think sometimes these discussions are healthy, as you realize where things can be improved on both sides. The communication over the last few days has been brilliant—I've really enjoyed that, and I'm looking forward to the next few months.”

The Afghanistan coach has urged his players to stay focused and united as they prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Trott, who has now extended his contract till the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, expressed excitement about the team’s future.

Jonathan Trott added, “I'm obviously excited about the future and the next few months. We were disappointed with how the Asia Cup went, but we need to bounce back—the guys have been training well.”

Under his leadership, Afghanistan has achieved several milestones, including a historic T20 World Cup semi-final appearance in 2024 and major series wins against South Africa and Bangladesh.
