Former England National Cricket Team captain Jos Buttler has lavished rich praise on the India National Cricket Team's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
Jos Buttler said that Jasprit Bumrah is the biggest superstar in India's touring squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against the England National Cricket Team.
I don’t think there’s a bigger star in that touring squad than Jasprit Bumrah - Jos Buttler
Jasprit Bumrah was India's Test vice-captain during the last red-ball series against the Australia National Cricket Team. He even led Team India in two out of five matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, but in the upcoming England Tests, he doesn't need to handle any such leadership duties.
The 31-year-old had reportedly himself withdrawn from the leadership race, and he is confirmed to play only three out of five matches against the Ben Stokes-led side. So far, the Indian team management has not decided in which matches the pace spearhead will be unleashed.
Meanwhile, speaking with Stuart Broad on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, Buttler talked about Bumrah's action and what seperates him from others. He said:
“I don’t think there’s a bigger star in that touring squad than Jasprit Bumrah, But facing him, he creates awkward angles, the run-up is unique, the action is unique.
"I think I have seen the side-ons (bowlers), but he delivers the ball from about a foot or even a bit more closer to the batsman than the average bowler, so the ball feels quicker even than the pace he is actually bowling at."

He is a superstar bowler - Jos Buttler
Buttler further said that 'superstar' Bumrah will be a big threat for the Three Lions in the upcoming five-match Test series and the Ben Stokes & Co. needs to perform well against him to achieve success. He stated:
“For me as a right-hander, it always felt like it was coming in, but he could beat me on the outside, and you sort of find yourself in a horrible position, squared up and a bit of a sitting target
"He is a superstar bowler, and that’s what you expect in international cricket. You are going to come up against great players and certainly someone England will need to play well to have good success."
He is going to be certainly one to watch - Stuart Broad
The pace-bowling legend Stuart Broad, during the same interaction, opined that the English team would be hoping that Jasprit Bumrah is not fit to play all five Tests.
“He is going to be certainly one to watch and certainly someone that England won’t want to play five Tests, because if he does, he’s going to pick up a shedload of wickets, isn’t he?"
Bumrah has played nine Test matches in England, and he has picked up 37 wickets at an average of 26.27, an economy of 2.72, and a strike rate of 57.8.
