Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer will not continue in his role at the franchise in the next IPL season.

According to the reports, Langer will part ways with the LSG as currently, he isn’t interacting with LSG senior players much and Zaheer Khan is taking care of the things right now.

Justin Langer limited interaction

The LSG head coach Justin Langer is also not pleased with the team’s performance in the ongoing IPL season. Langer was bought on board by Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir’s recommendation in IPL 2023 when Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow's franchise.

LSG qualified for the playoffs in their first two season but in last two season, LSG are eliminating from the league stage and Langer was appointed as the head coach in 2023.

According to a report in CricBlogger, Langer has failed to build chemistry in the LSG squad and especially with the LSG mentor Zaheer Khan, who joined the setup in IPL 2025.

The less interaction and the working relationship between Langer and Zaheer has not been smooth, which is hurting the team’s environment.

Zaheer Khan taking charge in place of Justin Langer

LSG mentor Zaheer Khan’s role is getting bigger in the LSG camp because of Langer’s behaviour. Zaheer is taking charge of the team and helping young players in the practice sessions.

A close source stated that Zaheer is currently running the whole team. The LSG mentor is also seen much more animated during the games compared to the other LSG coaching staff.

LSG might announce the news of parting ways with their head coach Justin Langer in the coming days or months. This will also be done after reviewing LSG’s performance in IPL 2025.

Zaheer might become the next head coach of Lucknow, if Langer parted ways with the LSG camp.

LSG’s poor form continues

LSG started their IPL 2025 campaign with a heartbreaking loss against Delhi Capitals by one wicket. Lucknow won four out of their first six matches in IPL 2025.

Nicholas Pooran had a huge role in the early success, but when Pooran started to fall cheaply, LSG’s performance also dipped. They are now on a four-match losing streak and eliminated from the season last night against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant didn’t lead his side well. Pant didn’t contribute with his bat at all, and their main bowler, Ravi Bishnoi, also failed to perform in IPL 2025.

The only positive news in this season for them is Digvesh Rathi. The mystery spinner took 14 wickets in 12 matches with 8.18 economy. Howver, his notebook celebration has cost him big as he was fined several times before being handed a one-match ban.
