Justin Langer has shown his interest to become the new head coach of Team India. He is currently the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants team in IPL 2024.

BCCI has invited applications for the new head coach of Team India. Rahul Dravid will step down from the post after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Notably, Team India has not had a foreign coach for almost the last 10 years. Duncan Fletcher was the last foreign guy in the role, who left the position in 2014.

I am curious- Justin Langer on applying for Team India head coach

During a press conference, LSG coach Justin Langer was asked by TOI whether he would apply for Team India head coach. To this, Langer replied has not thought about but it would be a fascinating job to do.

"Well, I am curious. I've never ever thought about it. I have deep respect for any international coach because I understand the pressure, but coaching the Indian team would be an extraordinary role. From what I've seen with the amount of talent I've seen in this country, it would be fascinating," the former Australian coach said.

Justin Langer had quite a successful stint as Australia's head coach, as he led the side to ICC T20 World Cup 2021 under his guidance. He also led Australia to magnificent wins in Ashes tournaments.

Notably, Rahul Dravid has not shown any interest in being India's head coach for another term. Hence, India will have a new head coach soon. Dravid’s contract was extended till the T20 World Cup 2024.

Under Dravid, Team India witnessed many ups and downs. Some of the achievements were lifting the Asia Cup 2023 and Test series victory against England. However, the men-in-blue also faced huge setbacks after losing the ICC WTC Final 2023, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

It's massive storm in a teacup: Langer on KL Rahul-Sanjiv Goenka controversy

Meanwhile, the LSG coach also spoke about the recent Sanjiv Goenka-KL Rahul controversy, which erupted after their argument on the field after a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Speaking about the event, Justin Langer said it was just a massive storm in a teacup.

"It's a massive storm in a teacup, in fact in an espresso cup. The thing that fascinates me about India is this incredible passion for cricket. Mr. Goenka is no different. I'm no different. KL is no different," he said.

"Our plan for the game (vs SRH) didn't go perfectly. In fact, it was a disaster. After the game, Mr. Goenka came onto the field and asked KL. 'What happened? Our plan that we talked about hasn't worked. What do we do now?' And then we talked through it," he further added.
