However, unfortunately, he suffered a rib injury in one of the training sessions in South Africa and was ruled out of the game. The pacer underwent several medical checks and assessments but was deemed unfit to play.

Later, reports claimed that Kagiso Rabada was doubtful for the second match, and Cricket South Africa (CSA) even added Lungi Ngidi to the squad as cover. However, the Proteas bowling coach Piet Botha had said that the pacer is still being monitored by the medical team.

Meanwhile, the South African skipper, Temba Bavuma, has now come up with the final update on Kagiso Rabada, stating that he has been ruled out of the Guwahati Test match.

"Pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the second Test against India due to a rib injury," South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma said as quoted by PTI.

This wicket looks a lot fresher - Temba Bavuma

Temba Bavuma also shared his views on the Guwahati pitch, saying that it looked fresher and the batters will find it easy in the middle on the first two days.

"This wicket looks a lot fresher and will be more consistent in terms of variability compared to Kolkata. We will have another look in the morning and decide on Kagiso’s replacement."

"This is typical sub-continental wicket with first two days good for batting before spinners come into play," he added.

Woke up in the morning, watching Ashes, feeling jealous - Temba Bavuma

Temba Bavuma further said that he got jealous watching the Ashes between Australia and England as they play a five-match Test series, which is not the case with the Proteas.

"Woke up in morning watching Ashes feeling jealous that they will play five Tests. We have expressed our frustrations about playing shorter series. Hopefully we will again play four Test series against India," South Africa Test captain Tenda Bavuma added.

Notably, South Africa's most of fixtures in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle consist of series where only two matches will be played, and all this is happening even after they won the last edition of the ICC World Test Championship by beating the Australia National Cricket Team in the final at Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
