The Green Park curator confirmed that the pitch for the second Test between India and Bangladesh will be ideal for a five-day match.

Shiv Kumar said on Wednesday that the wicket is expected to provide bounce for fast bowlers and assistance for spinners at different stages of the match.

The Rohit Sharma-led team started the two-match Test series with a 280-run win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The match was finished in the first session of the fourth day. Team India will look to stamp their authority in the second Test and complete a clean sweep in Kanpur.

The second of the series will be played at Green Park in Kanpur, starting on Friday, September 27.

There were rumors that the ground staff had prepared two pitches in Kanpur. RevSportz reported that skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir will choose the wicket they want to play on.

There Will Be That Chennai Match Feels - Kanpur Curator Shiv Kumar

The chief curator of Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Shiv Kumar, said that the pitch for the second Test could be similar to the one used in the first Test in Chennai.

Kumar added that pacers will benefit from bounce in the early sessions, while spinners will come into play on the last three days.

"There will be that Chennai match feeling. It will have something for everyone. It will offer bounce in the first two sessions and it will be pretty good for batting for the first two days. Then, the spinners will come into play on the last three days," curator Shiv Kumar told PTI.

The upcoming Test match in Kanpur marks a return to the venue after three years, with the last match played against New Zealand in November 2021.

Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel put up a strong fight for the last wicket. The match ended in a draw as the pitch did not deteriorate as expected.

Decided To Use As Little Plastic As Possible - Stadium Director Sanjay Kapur

The Green Park pitch has been prepared using black soil sourced from Kali Mitti village. This type of soil is known to favor spinners and is expected to create low and slow playing conditions.

An official from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association said that the soil is tested at the Indian Institute of Technology to ensure it meets specific standards. The official added that this practice of using black soil from Kali Mitti has been a long-standing tradition.

"We get this soil tested from the Indian Institute of Technology. It's a special soil that is found near a pond in village Kali Mitti. It (bringing black soil from the village) is a practice we have been following for years," said a UPCA official.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has taken steps to minimize plastic usage during the second Test. They have prohibited the use of plastic plates for serving snacks in the stadium. Stadium director Sanjay Kapur emphasized their commitment to making the match an eco-friendly event.

"This is a match at Green Park and we are striving to make it a 'green' match. We have decided to use as little plastic as possible," said stadium director Sanjay Kapur.
