Karun Nair publicly shamed by ex-India star in brutal rant ahead of Manchester Test

India's performance has been quite dominating in the England Test series, though with a mixed response from the batting point of view, every batter has more or less contributed to the team's limited success.
However, one position that always plays a very crucial role in the Test batting lineup is for a batter at No. 3. India has failed to find a promising match for the key position after Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the side.
The Indian middle-order batter Karun Nair made his comeback to the Indian side after giving several powerful performances in the domestic season. He started at no. 6 at Leeds but was promoted to no. 3 for the second and third Tests.
Despite a new role and a second chance to revive his international career, Karun Nair has failed to produce such an impact with the bat and has missed opportunities to convert his starts into a big score in the 3 matches he played in England.
Murali Kartik's verdict on Karun Nair
Nair was granted the ticket to England on the back of his solid performance in the domestic seasons over the years; however, his form in England seems to impart a message that he can bat only on subcontinent tracks.
The batter does not have a single half-century in the 6 innings and has a highest score of just 40, while this series has gone in favour of batting until the Lord's Test changed the momentum to some extent.
“Karun Nair banged and broke the door, did everything, and made a comeback. That is why he has been in the 11 as well. But from No.5 or 6, he was shifted up to No.3 as he has experience."
"Given the number of runs he scored, he got a chance because of that. But has he grabbed the opportunity so far? I don’t think so, and there will be a lot of pressure on him,” said Murali Kartik on Cricbuzz, taking a direct dig at Karun's form,.
Who should replace Nair in the Indian XI?
The ball is now in the court of the Indian management after a string of low scores from Karun Nair. Whether to back him for a return to form in international cricket or to try other players, considering the current circumstances in the series, the decision is awaited.
“Will India look at continuity? They should. Because if you are playing any player with some logic, you want the player to prove that right."
"But it is also important to see if the player has converted the runs based on the experience. Has he done it? maybe not. So it will be interesting to see what Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill think about him for the next game,” added Kartik.
The likes of Sai Sudharsan, who made his debut at Leeds and awaits a second chance in the series, and Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is yet to make his debut, might replace Karun Nair from India's Playing 11 for the Manchester Test.
Should India side with Kuldeep Yadav for the Manchester Test?
As urged by many cricket pundits and since England has exposed their weakness in front of quality spin bowling, should India consider bringing in Kuldeep Yadav for his first match in this England series?
He is the only specialist spinner on the side and has not played a match yet, while Washington Sundar has done more than expected with the ball, and Jadeja is irreplaceable with the bat; chances of his inclusion remain dim.
