Karun Nair was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “Not really. We didn't overdo anything. We had a good chat; both teams were respectful of the fact that it was a great series.”

Karun Nair reflects on playing in ‘Greatest’ Test series

Nair admitted that during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, they didn’t fully realize how special the Test series was. But once it was over and they reflected on the tense moments, match-turning performances, and high-pressure finishes, the players recognized they had been part of a truly memorable series.

The Indian batter also revealed how England head coach Brendon McCullum labelled the five-match Test series as the “greatest” in recent memory.

Nair added, “Brendon McCullum mentioned it was the greatest Test series to be played in recent memory. As players, we didn't feel the magnitude of it during the matches, but looking back at how the moments panned out, as a group, we feel we achieved something special.”

Karun Nair reflects on his rollercoaster England tour

Meanwhile, Karun Nair’s return to the Indian team in England was a mix of highs and lows. After earning his comeback following strong domestic performances, he failed to deliver in English conditions. He often got off to good starts but struggled to turn them into big scores.

This cost him his spot for the fourth Test, but an injury to Rishabh Pant handed Nair another chance in the fifth match, and he made it count with an important 57 in the first innings. The 33-year-old scored 205 runs in four tests at an average of just 25.62.

Nair admitted that he felt nervous while batting on the tricky The Oval pitch and was disappointed that he couldn’t build on it for a bigger score in the final Test against England.

He added, “I was disappointed at not being able to convert the start at The Oval into a century. But looking back, it was quite important to grind my way on that first day with the team in a tricky position. I'd done well there previously; I'd gotten a 150 for Northants against Surrey. The nerves were there, but I was feeling good. I was hoping to convert, which I couldn't.”
