The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended former cricketer S Sreesanth for three years due to false and offensive remarks against the association. Notably, the KCA said it will take legal action against Sanju Samson's father, Vishwanath, and others involved in making baseless allegations about the board.
Sreesanth made comments after Sanju Samson's exclusion from Kerala's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad in December. The KCA clarified that Samson missed the Vijay Hazare squad due to his refusal to attend the pre-tournament training camp. Samson had emailed the KCA regarding unavailability for the camp.
“Sanju had sent an email stating that he would not be available for the camp. The team had a short camp in Wayanad without him. Naturally, we only considered those who were part of the sessions for selection," the board had stated.
KCA Suspends S Sreesanth for Three Years Over Allegations
Sreesanth, who co-owns the Aries Kollam Sailors in the Kerala Cricket League, was suspended following controversial remarks. The decision was made during a special general body meeting on May 2. The KCA had issued show-cause notices to Sreesanth.
“Following the controversial remarks, the KCA had issued show-cause notices to Sreesanth and the franchisee teams Kollam Aries, Alleppey Team Lead content creator Sai Krishnan, and Alleppey Ripples,” the KCA statement read.
"As the franchisee teams gave satisfactory replies to the notice, the meeting decided not to proceed with further action against them. However, the KCA instructed the team management to be vigilant when including members," the statement added
KCA to File Legal Case Against Sanju Samson’s Father for Allegations
The Kerala Cricket Association is set to take legal action against Sanju Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, along with Reji Lukose and a TwentyFour news channel anchor.
This move comes after the trio allegedly made unfounded allegations against the association, using Sanju Samson's name. The KCA also wants to seek compensation through legal channels.
Samson Viswanath publicly criticized the Kerala Cricket Association in a news channel interview after his son was excluded from India’s Champions Trophy. He accused the board of intentionally sidelining his son and claimed that the association was actively working against Sanju’s cricketing future.
Rajasthan Royals Out of IPL 2025 Playoffs Amid Sanju Samson’s Injury Woes
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoff race after suffering a defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 1. RR have managed to win only three out of their 11 matches so far.
One of the major setbacks for the Royals this season was the absence of their regular captain, Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter has played just seven matches due to a side strain. Riyan Parag stepped in as stand-in skipper, but the team has struggled to maintain momentum.
Samson’s presence was sorely missed. The wicketkeeper-batter has scored 224 runs at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 143.58. There is uncertainty over his presence in the remainder of the tournament.
