Former England captain Kevin Pietersen had launched a scathing attack on his country's cricket team for skipping the training sessions despite not performing well. However, the English media and the team's captain Jos Buttler defended the decision.

The media claimed that the injuries and quick turnaround between games didn't allow the players to have practice sessions during the ODI series against India. However, Pietersen and Ravi Shastri, who were the commentators for this series, slammed England for such an approach.

Kevin Pietersen had taken to social media to express his criticism and argued how England not train even after losing so many games on this tour. He raised questions on the players' intent and claimed that the players were not trying to give their best.

Kevin Pietersen brutally slams English media

After the England team was defended by the country's media, Kevin Pietersen took to social media again to express his displeasure with the team not practicing between the series. Pietersen claimed that injuries are a part of the game and it doesn't stop batters from learning the art of playing spin.

"Just got sent an article where a leading UK journo has said that Shastri & I got it wrong last night when discussing England not training. Reason - injuries and quick turnaround between games…!Do me a f*****g favour! Stop writing about cricket if you’re going to write such rubbish. Injuries are part of sport and this schedule is like every bilateral series almost ever played," Kevin Pietersen posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"Injuries are NOT stopping batters from batting against net bowlers and learning the art of playing spin. And that’s where they should have been to IMPROVE! Trust me on this one as it saved my career against spin! It seems the journos are in cahoots with what we’re trying to be brainwashed into believing! You won’t fool the fan with such!" Kevin Pietersen added.

Tough tour for England

England had a difficult India tour in which they managed just a solitary win across five T20Is and three ODIs. India were all over their opposition in both the T20Is and ODIs as they thrashed them in all departments.

England looked like getting into the groove in the third T20I which was the only game they won on this tour. However, India came back strongly to win the next two games and clinch the series 4-1.

The ODI series was a rather one-sided affair. India won the first two games of the series comfortably while chasing the targets. In the third ODI, they were put in to bat for the first time in the series. However, the result remained the same as India dismantled England by a huge margin.

India thrash England in 3rd ODI

In the third ODI, India posted a huge score of 356 on the board on the back of a brilliant hundred from Shubman Gill. Gill scored 112 off just 102 balls while Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer also chipped in with useful fifties.

Adil Rashid bowled excellently for England and finished with 4-64 in 10 overs. In reply, England were bundled out for just 214 inside 34.2 overs. None of their batters crossed the fifty-run mark with Tom Banton and Gus Atkinson scoring 38 each. As a result, the visitors faced a crushing defeat by 142 runs.
