Sunil Narine (71) and Phil Salt (75) put up a show with the bat right from the start and made sure that they took their team off the brutal start. The duo scored 76 runs in the powerplay and put the opposition under immense pressure, smashing bowlers all over the park.
Both the openers brought out their best with the bat and slammed brutal half-centuries, stitching 138 runs for the opening partnership. After they got out, Venkatesh Iyer (39*) played a valiant hand with the bat and made sure that momentum stayed with his team.
Andre Russell (24) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (28) played blistering cameos with the bat down the order as the home team went past 250 runs. Based on the collective effort, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted the total of runs on the board.
For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/45. Apart from him skipper Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar picked one wicket each with the ball at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
