Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is all set to miss the next few games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Australia batter confirmed that he is having a hip train and will be undergoing his recovery process from now.

Glenn Maxwell is having the worst possible time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The all-rounder has failed to get going with the bat and his form has been one of the main reasons why Royal Challengers Bengaluru are struggling to win in the ongoing 17th edition of the league.

Glenn Maxwell missed Royal Challengers Bengaluru's last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and he later revealed that he himself told the management to drop him. The all-rounder stated that he will be taking a mental and physical break from the league and he doesn't want to block way for someone else.

While he didn't reveal for how long he will be missing the games due to a break, the all-rounder confirmed that he has been ruled out of at least the next match due to an injury. Glenn Maxwell stated that he has hip strain and said that after recovering if he gets an opportunity he will keep his hand up for it. Speaking to ESPN's ‘Around the Wicket’, he explained:

"I’ve actually got a little bit of a hip strain so I’ve got a few more days off and during recovery. So I’ve got a little period here where I’m still training, still trying to get myself right. If there is a spot that becomes available, I’ll obviously put my hand up and take it."

Glenn Maxwell further admitted that he hasn't done anything in the IPL 2024 to claim the spot in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru playing 11. He added:

"It’s not one of those things where I’ve set a date that I’ll be out for three games then I’ll come back whenever I’m ready. That’s that’s not how it works. I haven’t been at a level that’s good enough to warrant a spot on the side this year."

Glenn Maxwell has been horrible with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the six games in the tournament, he has slammed just 32 runs at 5.33. It remains to be seen if he gets another game in the tournament for the team or not.

"After the first few games hadn't gone to plan personally for me"- Glenn Maxwell on his decision to drop himself

After the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Glenn Maxwell revealed that he told Faf du Plessis to drop. He talked about his poor form, saying that he has been in this situation before as well and he doesn't want to dig himself into the hole. Speaking to reporters, he stated:

"After the first few games hadn't gone to plan personally for me, it was a pretty easy decision. I went to Faf and the coaches last game and said it was time to probably try someone else. I have been in this situation before, where you can keep playing and dig yourself into a hole. Now is actually the best time to give myself a mental and physical break."

RCB are reeling at the bottom of the table in the IPL 2024. They have managed to win just one match out of seven and are almost out of the playoff race.
