Fans on Twitter reacted after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 36th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They emerged winners against the opposition by just one run at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday (21st April).

Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first and it was a brutal start with the bat for them, thanks to Phil Salt (48). He wreaked havoc across the opposition batting lineup up and took his team off the flyer at the Eden Gardens.

But after his carnage, the KKR lost early wickets and were under pressure. It was when skipper Shreyas Iyer (50) held the fort and hit his first half-century of the season. Rinku Singh (24) supported him well and brought the team back in the game with their 40-run partnership at the Eden Gardens.

Ramandeep Singh (24*) and Andre Russell (27*) in the end made sure that they finished the innings on high. Kolkata Knight Riders posted a gigantic total of 222 on the board. For RCB, Cameron Green was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/35.

In the chase, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a shaky start as Virat Kohli (18) fell to a controversial dismissal and skipper Faf du Plessis managed just seven as they lost both the openers inside the powerplay.

However, after that Will Jacks (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) brought their team back in the game with their brutal half-centuries. The duo added 102 runs for the third wicket and kept their team in the hunt. However, after that KKR made a strong comeback.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost four wickets and were left tottering at 155 for six. Suryaash Prabhudessai (24) played a vital hand but fell at a crucial juncture. Dinesh Karthik in the end tried his best but couldn’t take his team home. Karn Sharma (20) revived the hopes of his fans in the end with some lusty blows but Bengaluru fell short of just 1 run.
