Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be locking horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 36th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). The KKR vs RCB match is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

KKR will be looking to bounce back after suffering a heartbreaking defeat in their last game against Rajasthan Royals. Sunil Narine's maiden IPL ton propelled KKR to a big total of 223 runs. However, the two-time IPL champions could not defend the total and suffered a loss on the last ball.

KKR have lost two of their last three games and will be desperate to avoid a defeat today. They have already defeated RCB once this season and would be fancying their chances again.

RCB, on the other hand, have lost their five games and have managed to register just one win in seven matches this season. Their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are extremely low now and another defeat will all but end their remaining hopes of making it to the next round. The Faf du Plessis-led side will be desperate to win today to keep their slim hopes alive.

KKR vs RCB: Impact players

RCB have won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking at the toss, RCB captain Faf du Plessis said: "We will chase. This is probably a chasing ground, always has been. I'm a fan of batting first when it's really hot, but the temperature did drop after an hour or so yesterday, unlike in Mumbai or Chennai where it stays very hot.

"The batting is so strong that a general score or 60-70 isn't considered great. We have three changes - Green and Siraj come back, so does Mayank Dagar. We know if we do a few things back, the momentum can be back and we do have the firepower," he added.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer said: "Last afternoon game here, we know how the wicket plays, we would have loved to bowl as well. It's stiflingly hot and we'll look to make them as tired as possible. We've tried to keep things simple, it's not about how you start, it's about how you end, just stick to the basics. We are playing the same team. It's important to assess the conditions, execute our plans, then it'll go in our favour."
