Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Mitchell Starc made sure that he got into the head of the Travis Head in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The summit clash between the teams is underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were asked to field first and Mitchell Starc was handed the responsibility to bowl with the new ball. It was expected that Travis Head would take the strike as he has been doing this for the entire season but it wasn’t the case.

Travis Head didn’t take the strike as he let Abhishek Sharma take the strike. This potentially was due to after Mitchell Starc sent him packing with a peach of a ball in Qualifier 1 of the tournament between the teams at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As Travis Head didn’t take the strike for the team, this made Mitchell Starc get into the head of the batter. He teased his Australian teammate for not taking the strike.

Here’s the video:

Travis Head’s move to give a strike to Abhishek Sharma didn’t work as Mitchell Starc sent the young India batter with a peach of a delivery. It was a sensational ball, potentially the ball of the tournament, to which the left-hander had no clue.

Mitchell Starc bowled a delivery that was angling in and drew the battery forward. The ball nipped away wickedly and opened up the left-hander outside of his off-stump. He didn’t have any clue about it as the ball went on to hit the stumps in a flash.

Things got even worse for Sunrisers Hyderabad as in the very next over Travis Head bagged a golden duck. He bowled a delivery on a good length that was seaming across the batter. His feet hardly moved as the ball caught the outside edge and the batter was on his way back.

I felt that my rhythm was building up being back into T20 cricket after a fair while - Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc ahead of the game talked about the game and stated that they had one practice session going into the game. He talked about how he got his rhythm back and highlighted the importance of adapting in T20 to conditions. He added:

“We had one (practice session) interrupted by rain last night. We all got warmed up and ready to go and then the rain came, so hopefully that's not the case tonight. It was nice to get here early after our game in Ahmedabad, obviously, we watched the other game (Qualifier 2) here last night unfold which resulted in us playing the Sunrisers, everyone is ready to go.

“I felt that my rhythm was building up being back into T20 cricket after a fair while, so thankfully that has been the case and got back into rhythm - the intensity and how quickly you need to adapt in T20 to conditions or how the batting team goes about it,” he concluded.
