Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a decent knock in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The summit clash of the tournament between the teams took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chasing the target of 114 runs, even though Kolkata Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine (6) early, Rahmanullah Gurbaz made sure that he held the one end. The keeper-batter played a perfect second fiddle to Venkatesh Iyer, who was going great guns with the bat and played exceptionally well.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz played some glorious shots in his innings and with the way he was batting, he looked all set to finish the game. However, he got out in an unlucky way as the DRS wasn’t available and the batter had to take the long walk back to the pavilion at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

During the 5th ball of the 9th over, Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a delivery to which Rahmanullah Gurbaz got low to sweep. The ball dribbled away towards fine leg and the bowler went for the appeal as the umpire raised his finger after having a fine look at it.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz immediately went for the review. The ball seemed to be going down the leg but the ball-tracking and UltraEdge had gone down and the on-field call stayed and the batter had to take the long walk back. He was extremely furious as he was livid.

Here’s the video:

Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a vital innings for his team and ended with the innings of 39 runs off 32 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 121 and also slammed 5 fours and 2 sixes in his innings, adding 91 runs for the second wicket with Venkatesh Iyer.

Venkatesh Iyer (52*) came out all guns blazing and carried his good form. He continued from where he left off in the Qualifier 1 and slammed a vital half-century. His sensational knock ensured Kolkata Knight Riders won the game inside 11 overs to win their third title.
