Ahead of the forthcoming tour of South Africa, India star KL Rahul has admitted that the tour will be a challenging one. Team India will visit the African country for a full-fledged series.
India are scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests against the Proteas. The T20I series will kickstart the tour. The first match is scheduled to be played on December 10 at Kingsmead in Durban. The last time India toured South Africa, they were thoroughly outplayed by the hosts.
India had visited South Africa during the 2021/22 season for three Tests and as many ODIs and had a forgettable tour. They began the tour by winning the first Test before South Africa bounced back by winning the following two games. After the series, Virat Kohli had stepped down as the Test captain. The home side had then gone on to whitewash India in the ODI series.
KL Rahul ready for South Africa challenge:
KL Rahul is well aware of the challenges that await Team India in South Africa and he is ready to face them. The wicketkeeper-batsman could also be named as the captain of the T20I side if Hardik Pandya fails to recover from the ankle injury that he had sustained during the World Cup.
And it looks quite likely that the KL Rahul could be the man to lead India in the T20Is as he starred in a recent commercial for the series. Talking about the challenges of touring South Africa, he said: “To become the world’s best T20 is difficult. To dominate the South African pacers at their own turf is difficult. But to beat South Africa in their own backyard will be fun.”
It’s going to be a tough challenge… but it’s only fun if it’s tough, right?
We’re here to take on the South African challenge and win!

KL Rahul could also lead the ODI team if Rohit Sharma is rested for the series ahead of the Tests. He was the vice-captain during the World Cup and could don the captain’s hat in the upcoming series.
