India National Cricket Team batter KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty are set to become parents. The couple announced the news through their social media accounts on Friday (8th November), providing their fans with updates about the development.

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty took to Instagram and confirmed that they will be welcoming a baby in 2025. The duo shared a post and captioned it: "Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025".

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty reportedly have been with each other since 2019

Rahul and Athiya Shetty reportedly have been with each other since 2019. The couple kept their relationship private before making things public in 2021 when the cricketer posted a birthday post for Athiya.

In January 2023, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty tied the knot with each other. The marriage took place at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse with family and close friends present. Since then, are often seen together and also posted a lot of pictures together.

KL Rahul currently is in Australia, playing for India A team

Rahul is currently in Australia. He was included in the India A team for their tour game against Australia A. The batter has been struggling to get going, and the same story unfolded even in the ongoing game, which is taking place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Rahul, who opened in both the innings, returned with scores of 4 and 10 in the game. He has been named in the Indian squad for the Test series against the Australia National Cricket Team, but it isn't clear if he will be featured in the playing XI or not.

Rahul was dropped from the Indian playing XI for the last two Tests against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The batter played the first game of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and after that, Sarfaraz Khan was preferred over him in the team for the remaining two games.

KL Rahul likely to open the innings in the first Test against Australia

Rahul has been enduring a lean phase in cricket. The right-hander hasn't been able to score runs freely. This has led to his downfall but with the kind of impact he has made in the overseas conditions for India National Cricket Team in the Tests, it's fair to say that he will be vital for the team in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Rahul is likely to open the innings in the first Test against Australia National Cricket Team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. The India captain is expected to miss the opening game at Perth due to the birth of his second child, and hence, Rahul has been kept in the ranks, especially with him being the opener earlier in his career.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is all set to begin on 22nd November. KL Rahul would be hoping to turn things around and return to form, especially with the series being extremely important for the India National Cricket Team.
