A heartwarming moment unfolded between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Saurav Chauhan and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni during the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

After the season opener between RCB and CSK, Saurav Chauhan, along with some of his teammates, eagerly asked for an autograph from the former Indian captain MS Dhoni. However, a minor mishap turned the interaction into a memorable story for Saurav that he has shared now.

RCB's Saurav Chauhan shares delightful autograph experience with CSK legend MS Dhoni

As Chauhan rushed to get a marker for Dhoni to sign the back of his T-shirt, the RCB player accidentally took a marker that was not working, leading to a lighthearted reaction from the legendary wicketkeeper-batter.

Despite the delay, Dhoni went himself for a working marker and fulfilled the young player's wish by signing an autograph on the back of his RCB jersey.

Saurav Chauhan said on Ishan Joshi's YouTube channel: “I wanted MS Dhoni's autograph on the back of my T-shirt. He asked me to bring a marker so that he could sign. I ran to take a marker, and there were two markers, one was open, one was closed. I was in a hurry, so I took the open one, which was not working, and I gave it to him.”

Chauhan further noted, “He tried to sign with that marker, but it did not work. So, he said, 'Kya sasta marker le kar aa gaya hai tu yaha pe, chal bhi nahi raha.' (From where did you get this cheap marker? It's not even working.) Then, before I left to change the marker, Dhoni himself went to take the other marker and gave me his autograph.”

Saurav Chauhan recalls his meeting with MS Dhoni

This simple gesture highlighted Dhoni’s down-to-earth nature. Meanwhile, Saurav Chauhan also recalled how he and the other RCB players had to wait for around 15 minutes before finally meeting the former CSK captain, as Dhoni was busy with post-match catch-ups.

But once they met, MS Dhoni greeted them warmly. And Chauhan was struck by how approachable and humble the legendary cricketer was, feeling as if he wasn’t just speaking to a cricketing icon but to someone genuinely down-to-earth.

Later, Chauhan made the most of the opportunity to seek valuable batting tips from the legendary Dhoni. It was a surreal experience for the young RCB player that not only brought him closer to a childhood idol but also provided him with personal insights and lessons that will surely help him.

He was so humble: Chauhan

The RCB player signed off by saying, “I waited for 15 to 20 minutes to meet him. Actually, he had gone inside, and I was waiting outside with some other RCB youngsters. So, we told the officials we want to click pictures with him. We were told to wait for 10 minutes because he was busy. Then, we went inside and spoke with him. At that time, it did not feel like I was talking to MS Dhoni. He was so humble. I took some batting tips from him.”
