India National Cricket Team’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken the cricket world by storm with his fearless batting. Even New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson is impressed by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, saying the 15-year-old’s talent is special at any age.

Jamieson is also excited to see how Sooryavanshi’s career develops over the next 10 to 20 years. He also praised experienced Indian batter KL Rahul ahead of the upcoming five-match ODI series, backing his quality despite a low score in the recent India A match against New Zealand A.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s explosive 45 and Abhishek Sharma’s 35-ball ton help India seal T20I series

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi recently played a key role in India’s historic win over New Zealand in the third T20I in Wellington on October 27. He smashed 45 runs off just 19 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes, as India chased down 199 in only 13.2 overs to take a 3-0 lead in the T20I series.

The 15-year-old left-hander added 118 runs in the six-over Powerplay with Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a century off just 35 balls, and set a record for the highest Powerplay total in a men’s T20I against an ICC Full Member team.

India also reached 100 runs in just five overs, the fastest team hundred in a T20I chase. Their opening stand of 133 runs came in only 7.1 overs. With India already clinching the five-match T20I series by winning the first three matches under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, the Men in Blue will now aim to complete a clean sweep in the remaining T20Is.

Kyle Jamieson blown away by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s talent

However, Kyle Jamieson will miss the rest of the two games to prepare for the five-match ODI series. But Jamieson praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, saying his talent is special not just for a 15-year-old but for any cricketer.

The fast bowler was impressed by how the teenager is already playing international cricket at such a young age. Amid this, Prasidh Krishna ruled out of New Zealand ODI series.

Kyle Jamieson was quoted as saying by Revsportz, "He's a serious player, right? We talk about the age, which is obviously so impressive, but it’s world-class for any age. For us, the idea of walking onto an international field at 15 is just not something that’s ever done.

Very impressive… and it’ll be just cool to watch as a spectator over the next 10, 15, 20 years, however long he plays for, and see what that career arc looks like.”

Kyle Jamieson calls KL Rahul a "world class" player despite India A horror show

Jamieson called KL Rahul a world-class player with experience in overseas conditions and said his India A performance should not be judged this early. He was also excited for his battle with Rahul.

Rahul scored 0 and 4 runs across two innings for India A in the recently concluded first unofficial Test against New Zealand A at Lincoln. Notably, Jamieson and Rahul have also shared the Delhi Capitals dressing room in the IPL 2026.

Jamieson signed off by saying, “He’s obviously world-class, right? And he’s done it all around the world, especially in conditions that are kind of similar to here. I wouldn’t really read too much into how that first sort of game (India A) went."

"Know his quality, and have shared a few net sessions earlier in the year through the IPL. So, we’ve certainly seen a lot of each other, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.”
