Matthew Hayden said that Jasprit Bumrah bowled the right lengths without being distracted by the extra bounce on offer at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Hayden also said that Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana supported Bumrah very well in the first innings.

"A Lot of touring sides get carried away by the bounce on Australian conditions. but not Bumrah, he was on the money from ball one. He was backed up by Siraj and Rana," Hayden added.

Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul countered the Australian bowling attack without losing a wicket in the entire second session. They ended the post-lunch session with 84/0 in 26 overs.
