South African speedster Dale Steyn has been spending considerable time on social media as he has been away from professional cricket since long. As a result, Dale Steyn has had the chance to conduct question and answer sessions, engaging with his fans frequently. On this occasion, the veteran fast bowler recollected Sreesanth’s six off Andre Nel in 2006 at the Wanderers, labelling it as legendary.
What made Dale Steyn remember was ESPN Cricinfo’s Twitter post when it posted a question, “Name a batter and a shot of theirs that gives you chills every time”. Steyn responded to the same by tweeting, “Sreesanth and his slog off Andre Nel for 6 with the swinging bat celebration. Legendary.”. The Kerala-born cricketer had been provoked by the constant chatter from Andre Nel, who kept saying “Indians don’t have a heart”, as revealed by Sreesanth once.
As a result, the right-arm speedster charged down the track and hit Nel for a massive six over long-on. After that, Sreesanth produced a dance move by swinging his bat, much to the amusement of the onlookers. Steyn was also part of that fixture, but he could not much impect for his team. The tourists won that Test by 123, with Sreesanth getting eight wickets in the match, including a fifer in the first. Nevertheless, India lost the series as South Africa registered victories in the next two.
