The IPL 2026 Auction delivered another jaw-dropping moment on Tuesday, December 16, as England all-rounder Liam Livingstone became the most sought-after name at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Following a fierce bidding war, Liam Livingstone finally walked away with a blockbuster INR 13 crore deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Despite an underwhelming IPL 2025 season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Liam Livingstone’s raw power, fearlessness, and the rare ability to contribute with both bat and ball made him the hot property at the auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Livingstone’s six-hitting ability, along with his ability to bowl useful overs of both off-spin and leg-spin, pushed Sunrisers Hyderabad to go all out and break the bank at the IPL 2026 Auction. The Englishman was secured for a hefty INR 13 crore by SRH in Abu Dhabi, thanks to his explosive power-hitting and spin bowling.
Much like power hitters like Tim David and Mitchell Marsh, Livingstone’s ability to change a match in a few overs makes him one of the most dangerous batters in the format.
Additionally, the England all-rounder’s spin bowling played a huge role in him landing a whopping deal at the auction.
Liam Livingstone's IPL journey
Livingstone entered the IPL 2026 Auction in Set 2 under the All-rounders category at a base price of ₹2 crore. His overall T20 numbers in 2025 further strengthened his case.
Across 35 innings, he scored 840 runs at an average of 30 and an impressive strike rate of 148.93, with a boundary coming every 5.47 balls as of December 12.

Notably, the England all-rounder’s IPL journey began with Rajasthan Royals in 2019, before he found his breakthrough season with Punjab Kings in 2022. A move to RCB in 2025 did not go as planned, as he scored only 112 runs in eight innings, leading to his release.
Overall, Livingstone has featured in 49 IPL matches, scoring 1051 runs and picking up 13 wickets.
