Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels that CSK do not have a powerful and aggressive batting line-up like the other teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Vaughan gave his statement after CSK's brutal defeat to RCB in their second match of the season.

Chennai Super Kings miserably failed to chase down a total close to 200-run mark as Royal Challengers Bengaluru gave them a thumping. Michael Vaughan compared CSK to some of the other sides and explained how they lack the ability to score big totals.

He shed light on the Yellow Army's middle order and explained how they will struggle to score big on good batting wickets in the upcoming games of the tournament. In both the games played so far, the Super Kings' batting has struggled at some point.

Michael Vaughan's blunt take on CSK's batting line-up

While speaking on Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan explained how teams like Punjab Kings and RCB have powerful batting line-ups as opposed to CSK, who do not look good to get big totals on the board.

"You look at some of the powerful sides in this year's IPL, like Punjab looks strong, RCB have depth. You actually look at Chennai, kind of the engine room in the middle, there aren't many in form," Vaughan explained.

"(Deepak) Hooda is not in great form, Sam Curran looks like he is short of a gallop in the middle, Dube hit that first six but then just the 19 off 15, again he is not in great form," the former England batter added.

Michael Vaughan challenges CSK's batting might

While speaking further in the same conversation, Michael Vaughan labeled CSK's batting line-up as the one for the older generations. He claimed that they can score 150-170 but will struggle to score big totals on good batting wickets later in the tournament.

"They look like the line-up of the old T20 games, the 150 games. They look to me like a 150-170 batting line up. If the wickets are a little bit dusty or groovy, they have a chance to chase the total," Vaughan noted.

"Once you get close to 197 and beyond 200, I don't think they have got the power like some of the other teams have," he reckoned.

CSK have a solid top order but the middle order hasn't shown enough promise in the tournament so far. Deepak Hooda has looked out of form while Shivam Dube has failed in both games as well.

Apart from them, Rahul Tripathi has failed in both the games as well. Rachin Ravindra has shown promise in both the matches and he, alongside, Ruturaj Gaikwad, will be key for their team in the upcoming games.

CSK's faltering batting line-up

In the first match, CSK chased down 156 in the last over to beat Mumbai Indians. The win wasn't straight-forward as they had to fight their way and reached the target in the final over of the match.

In the second game against RCB, Chennai struggled right from the start during their run-chase. RCB picked up early wickets and never allowed CSK to get ahead in the game. In the end, RCB won the match by 50 runs, handing CSK their biggest defeat at home.
