The IPL 2026 Auction delivered another jaw-dropping moment as two uncapped players suddenly found themselves in the spotlight. Prashant Veer and Auqib Nabi scripted history at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16.

Prashant Veer and Auqib Nabi become the most expensive uncapped players ever sold at the IPL auction in history. Veer stole the show when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) went all out to secure Uttar Pradesh's 20-year-old all-rounder’s services.

After outbidding Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who backed out once the bid went past Rs 14 crore, the CSK finally sealed the deal at a massive ₹14.2 crore. With this whopping signing at the auction in Abu Dhabi, Prashant became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history.

Veer is a left-arm spinner and left-handed batter. He has so far played two first-class games and nine T20s, scoring 7 and 112 runs, respectively. The 20-year-old also has 14 wickets to his name for UP.

On the other hand, Auqib Nabi also enjoyed a dream day at the auction table. The Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler entered the IPL 2026 Auction with a base price of just ₹30 lakh, but he instantly became one of the most talked-about uncapped players on the table.

DC outshine SRH to land Auqib Nabi in blockbuster ₹8.4 crore deal

Nabi sparked an intense bidding battle between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The price quickly shot up past ₹7 crore as both teams fought hard to secure him.

In the end, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious, winning the bidding war and signing Nabi for a massive ₹8.4 crore, making him one of the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history.

He has now become the joint seventh costliest uncapped player in IPL history. Nabi has so far played 36 first-class, 29 List A, and 34 T20 matches for Jammu and Kashmir, taking 125, 42, and 43 wickets, respectively. The right-handed batter is also a handy batter, amassing around 1300 runs across the formats.
