Litton Das Ruled Out Of Remainder Of The ODI Series Against Zimbabwe
Litton Das, the opener for Bangladesh, has been ruled out of the current ODI series against Zimbabwe due to a hamstring injury.
Litton was hurt in the first of a three-match series against Zimbabwe at Harare, which the home team won by five wickets.
Litton, who finished with 81 runs was forced to retire hurt after suffering an injury while securing a single, because Litton had been routinely scoring runs in recent years, his absence will have an impact on Bangladesh’s batting strength.
Concerns have also been raised about the availability of fast bowler Shoriful Islam, who was forced to leave the game with a shin injury in the first ODI of the three-match series.
Bangladesh Lose The First ODI
“Litton is ruled out from the tour of Zimbabwe,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told the cricket news website, Cricbuzz on Friday.
As far as the match is concerned, the Bangla Tigers lost the match despite scoring more than 300 runs. But their performance with the bat cannot be blamed much because all four of their top batsmen scored fifty runs, a first in their ODI history.
However, none of them could stay at the crease for as long as Raza and Kaia did who both scored hundreds for Zimbabwe. Bangladesh made numerous misfields and dropped catch after catch, which was appalling. Since none of their seasoned bowlers could maintain the strain for too long, their bowling performance was also below par. The hosts gratefully accepted these gifts, giving them a 1-0 series advantage.
After the game, Tamil Iqbal said, “I didn’t think we had enough. We could have pushed a little more, we were 15-20 runs short. We knew we had to bat like a Test match in the first 10-15 overs. We have been dropping catches regularly and someday it will cost us, that was today. I think Litton is out of the series, I have to check about the others.”
