Pakistan is currently competing against Australia in the first Test of the three-match series in the WTC 2023-25 cycle. Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle expressed disappointment with Pakistan???s bowling performance during the first session of the series opener.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins opted to bat after winning the toss in Perth on December 14. Pakistan provided opportunities to two debutant fast bowlers, Aamir Jamal and Khurram Shahzad. Nathan Lyon returned to the Australian playing XI, replacing Todd Murphy.

Long Time Since I Saw ??? Harsha Bhogle

Harsha Bhogle pointed out that Pakistan???s bowling lacked genuine pace, describing it as a rare occurrence in Test cricket. He mentioned that it has been a long time since he witnessed such a scenario in Test cricket.

Australia made an impressive start, reaching 117-0 at lunch, thanks to a solid partnership between David Warner and Usman Khawaja. Warner, displaying aggressive batting, scored 72 runs off 67 balls, while Khawaja contributed 37 runs during the opening session.

Pakistan made a strong comeback in the second session by dismissing Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. Shaheen Afridi claimed Khawaja???s wicket, while Faheem Ashraf got Labuschagne out for 16 runs. Meanwhile, David Warner achieved his 26th Test century.

Notably, Warner achieved his highest individual score and only triple-century (335*) in Adelaide during Pakistan???s previous tour of Australia in 2019. The absence of a specialist spinner in Pakistan???s playing XI might impact the pacers with the demanding workload.
