The second Test between England and India this summer at the Lord’s in London will see the stadium turn red Ruth Strauss Foundation’s annual day. The title partner LV Insurance has dedicated the fifth Test match of the summer to the charity, helping to raise awareness its mission across five days and supporting #RedForRuth day on day two. The upcoming rubber between England and India promises to be a blockbuster one in the presence of crowds.

Former England captain Andrew Strauss set up Ruth Strauss Foundation in memory of his late wife, Ruth. She passed away in December 2018 due to non-smoking lung cancer, aged just 46. With the United Kingdom enduring 23,600 parents’ death each year with dependent children, the charity aims to offer such children all the professional and emotional support for the future.

This year, the #RedForRuth campaign will raise awareness for charity’s new Family Support Service, relating to provide support for families with dependent children, whose parents do not have much time to live. The association hopes to extend it beyond thousands of families and formulate a training program for healthcare professionals to support the families when needed.

Andrew Strauss remarked he is pleased to see the support for the Ruth Foundation from the cricketing family and beyond that. The former left-handed batsman stated through their unwavering support, the foundation has brought Ruth’s vision of assisting families through their most challenging periods to reality. Strauss hopes that the family support service can do something similar to give the much-required guidance to the needy.

“We are delighted to once again see Lord’s turn Red for Ruth and are grateful for the ongoing support of the cricketing family and wider public. It’s through people’s generosity that we are able to bring Ruth’s vision of supporting families facing one of life’s toughest tests to life. Through the work of the Foundation and the launch of the Family Support Service we can give families who find themselves in a similar position to ours the help and guidance that is so badly needed,” Strauss said as quoted by the ECB’s official website.
