England keeper-batsman Jos Buttler has often praised MS Dhoni, going to the extent of revealing once that if he could become half the player the Indian captain was, it would be a fulfilling career. Like MS Dhoni, Jos Buttler is also a keeper-batsman and is capable of producing game-changing knocks as a lower-order batsman in ODIs. The 30-year old claimed to love the match-winning six hit by Dhoni in the 2011 World Cup final.

MS Dhoni’s iconic six to win the second ODI World Cup for India will go down as one of the best moments in cricket history. The 39-year old promoted himself up the order in that match despite not being in good form and steered the men in blue by sharing crucial partnerships with Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh. Dhoni eventually finished with an unbeaten 91 off 79 deliveries as India chased down 275 with six wickets to spare in Mumbai against Sri Lanka.

Jos Buttler revealed that MS Dhoni hitting that six to pull off the victory for India was one of the most cherished moments for him, followed by the keeper-batsman twizzling his bat. The Lancashire cricketer underlined that he accomplished the most iconic six of India’s cricketing history with immense composure.

“I love the shot of him hitting that six to win the World Cup and then he twizzles his bat around. That was all he gave you, it is probably the biggest moment in Indian cricket history and he still just pulls it off with such composure. I love watching him play,” Buttler told Cricbuzz.

Jos Buttler heaped further praises on MS Dhoni, saying that it is incredible to anticipate his thought process and how he does not ride his emotions of the game. Buttler admires the way the veteran kept people guessing by his questionable yet effective tactics without worrying about what it looks like.

“I like that about him, made me intrigued about him. It is quite amazing trying to think what he is thinking about, why is he not riding the emotions of the game. He always kept people guessing like that. I like the way he does things because they make sense to him. It doesn’t look like he worries too much about what it looks like,” he added.
