Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) officials skipped the post-match ceremony after their defeat to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 13th match of the IPL 2025. The Lucknow team's management is dissatisfied with the Rishabh Pant-led team's performance, with two losses in their first three games of the ongoing season.

Lucknow Super Giants suffered an eight-wicket loss to Punjab Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 1. The Super Giants managed to score only 171/7 despite having a strong overseas batting lineup. PBKS secured the victory with 22 balls to spare.

Lucknow Super Giants Officials Skipped the Post-Match Ceremony

LSG officials were absent from the post-match presentation ceremony following their defeat to Punjab Kings in Lucknow.

According to a report by MyKhel, an LSG promoter was expected to be present as a host at the post-match presentation in Lucknow, following the team's protocol for home matches. However, no one from LSG attended the ceremony, even though some team members were seen on the field after the match.

"Sources told MyKhel that one of the LSG promoters was supposed to be there as a host in Lucknow at the post-match presentation ceremony - as a part of the decorum from the home team. But none from the LSG side attended the post-match presentation despite some of them being seen on the field right after their Punjab game got over," the report read.

LSG Officials' Absence Sparks Discussions on Social Media

The absence of LSG officials at the post-match ceremony has sparked discussions, especially given past incidents, such as owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly criticizing KL Rahul after a loss last season. This has led to questions about LSG’s sportsmanship and whether they need to reassess their approach.

However, LSG has dismissed these claims. A senior team official clarified that there was no mandatory requirement for their presence at the ceremony. The official also stated that Goenka never attends post-match presentations, adding, "Mr. Goenka was on the field and there was no such arrangement at all."

Sanjiv Goenka’s Name Included in the Post-Match Ceremony Guest List

The report further stated that Goenka’s name was initially included in the post-match ceremony guest list but was later removed. "If that is the case, LSG should have sent one of their franchise officials for the post-match presentation?" a source added.

The Rishabh Pant-led team scored 171 runs for seven wickets after being asked to bat first. Nicholas Pooran (44), Ayush Badoni (41), Aiden Markram (28), and Abdul Samad (27) chipped in contributions for the team. Arshdeep Singh claimed three wickets for PBKS but conceded 43 runs in his four overs.

In response, PBKS chased down the target with ease. They reached 177/2 in just 16.2 overs. Prabhsimran Singh scored 69 runs, while Shreyas Iyer (52*) and Nehal Wadhera (43*) guided the team to victory. Digvesh Singh Rathi picked up two wickets for LSG, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their defeat.
