Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be up against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 30th match of IPL 2025 on April 14 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
LSG snatched victories from the jaws of defeat against MI and KKR after getting off to a shaky start against DC in their first match of the tournament, and will look to carry the momentum in the upcoming match against the Chennai Super Kings.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are experiencing a completely different story, having lost five matches in a row for the first time in the history of the tournament. The former champions are still searching for the right team combination.
LSG Playing 11 vs CSK- IPL 2025, Match 30:
Openers: Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh
Aiden Markram will open the innings for Lucknow Super Giants along with Mitchell Marsh. Markram will look to get some runs under his belt after failing to get a big score in the last couple of matches.
Mitchell Marsh, on the other hand, has come good for LSG at the top of the order and has consistently scored runs for the team, barring one match where he was dismissed for a duck against PBKS. The Australian all-rounder kicked off the 2025 IPL season with a half-century against DC.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, David Miller, Shardul Thakur
The opening pair of Markram and Marsh will be followed by Nicholas Pooran, who has been the standout batter for LSG along with Marsh and is among the leading run scorers of the tournament so far.
Lucknow Super Giants would hope for their middle-order batters to get a bit more time out in the middle, as the bulk of the team's runs have been scored by the top three batters, Markram, Marsh, and Pooran in most of the matches this season.
Having said that, players like Ayush Badoni, Shahbaz Ahmed, David Miller, and Abdul Samad have chipped in with useful contributions for LSG whenever they have got the opportunity to bat, especially in the final five overs while batting first.
The Lucknow Super Giants management would be concerned about the form of Rishabh Pant. The left-handed batter hasn't yet contributed with the bat in the ongoing IPL season. While their no denying the fact that Pant has done a good job in the way he has handled an inexperienced bowling attack, he would like to score runs.
Bowlers: Manimaran Siddharth, RavI Bishnoi, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Akash Deep
Lucknow Super Giants has been able to win matches despite having a bowling lineup that does not look the strongest on paper but has done the job for the team, led by Digvesh Rathi, who has been the pick of the bowlers for LSG and has overtaken Ravi Bishnoi as the first-choice spinner.
Other than Digvesh, players with international experience like Shardul Thakur and Akash Deep have also picked up wickets at crucial moments for the team, despite being on the expensive side as far as their economy is concerned.
