Sheikh Mansour confirmed his meeting with Glazer and said that both of them discussed things that will help Dubai to grow as one of the giants of sports across the globe and also about the UAE T20 league.

I met with Avram Glazer, co-chairman of Manchester United, today and discussed ways to work together to further raise Dubai’s profile as a global sporting hub,” Sheikh Mansour tweeted on Thursday.

I am very excited to be a part of UAE T20 at its formation: Avram Glazer

Last year, Glazer had said that he was excited to be part of the UAE T20 league, which is expected to start from January next year.

“I am very excited to be a part of UAE T20 at its formation. UAE T20 promises to be a world-class event that will be transformative to the growth of cricket in the Emirates,” Glazer had said.

The Glazer family had attempted to bid for the new IPL franchise in October last year but weren’t successful as the BCCI handed over the rights to Sanjeev Goenka-led RPSG group for Lucknow Super Giants and CVC capital bagged the rights to own Gujarat Titans for IPL 2022.

CVC had faced a conflict of interest in acquiring online betting and gaming companies. The BCCI had to hold on issuing the tender to CVC Capital but cleared them and also handed over the letter of intent on January 11.

The IPL 2022 will start on March 26 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
