Manchester United’s owner Glazer family have arrived in UAE with the documents ready for bidding, and the winners of the bid along with two new teams will be named today as per TOI sources. The IPL 2022 will definitely see 10 teams instead of 8, and a mega auction is likely to take place at the end of the year. The two new IPL teams haven’t yet been named, and the bidding process is likely to end by today.

As far as TOI sources are concerned, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore, Cuttack, and Guwahati are in the fray for being chosen as the next two teams, while it will be interesting to see what happen if Man United Owner win the bids. The winner of the bid will have the luxury of owning the franchises while the Adani Group, Torrent Group, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Capri Global, and Hindustan Times Media are some of the big names that are expected to take part in the bidding table.

Industrialist Naveen Jindal Also Shows Interest

The 51-year-old Naveen Jindal has reportedly shown interest in buying a franchise from IPL, and this comes as a surprise as he has been associated with steel and power. Naveen Jindal is a former member of the Parliament and a billionaire industrialist, and he is looking to make an IPL franchise out of Cuttack by partnering with the Naveen Patnaik-led government.

“The government of Odisha will wholeheartedly back the franchise in Odisha as it has backed every other sport over the last many years,” Sources according to TOI.

Bid Related Policies Not Clear As Per BCCI Sources

BCCI Sources are not clear of how the bidding process is likely to undergo as the bidders are not aware of the value of other bidders coming into the bid table. With over 20 parties having been registered for the bidding, Taj Dubai has been named as the centre for submitting the bids.

“Anybody coming to the bid table will expect to know the value of all the other bidders, irrespective of the winning bid,” according to TOI sources.

The winner of the bidding process for two new teams of IPL 2022 is expected to be announced within 11 AM on Monday, October 25th.
