The IPL 2022 will definitely see 10 teams instead of 8, and a mega auction is likely to take place at the end of the year. The two new IPL teams haven’t yet been named, and the bidding process is likely to end by today.
As far as TOI sources are concerned, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore, Cuttack, and Guwahati are in the fray for being chosen as the next two teams, while it will be interesting to see what happen if Man United Owner win the bids. The winner of the bid will have the luxury of owning the franchises while the Adani Group, Torrent Group, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Capri Global, and Hindustan Times Media are some of the big names that are expected to take part in the bidding table.
Industrialist Naveen Jindal Also Shows Interest
The 51-year-old Naveen Jindal has reportedly shown interest in buying a franchise from IPL, and this comes as a surprise as he has been associated with steel and power. “The government of Odisha will wholeheartedly back the franchise in Odisha as it has backed every other sport over the last many years,” Sources according to TOI.
