A massive fielding blooper by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Manish Pandey and Anukul Roy were about an infamous catch drop by the Pakistani cricket team's fielders in an international game when two fielders ran for a catch, but no one took the final steps to take it.
The same happened in the ongoing Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, today, April 2.
A Pakistan-like fielding blooper by the Kolkata Knight Riders
Substitute fielder Manish Pandey, who is a good fielder with a safe pair of hands, and Anukul Roy ran to take a catch to dismiss the SRH batter Heinrich Klassen. Manish ran across to his left from long on, while Anukul Roy rushed from long off. In the end, they both left the ball for the other, and the ball dropped just in between the two fielders. Heinrich Klaasen got an extra lifeline in the final over of the first innings.
That Miss Field did not harm the Knight Riders too much, as the bowler soon took the wicket of the dangerous South African batter Heinrich Klassen. Klaasen departed after scoring 52 runs against 35 deliveries. In comparison to the knocks of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, Klassen's innings was a little bit slow, but effective as the KKR bowlers bounced back brilliantly by taking some crucial wickets in the middle of the innings.
Heinrich Klassen played a crucial knock
The fifty-plus-run knock by the overseas batter displayed the temperament and composure the team needed from him at that moment. Klaasen played an anchor role to continue their scoreboard ticking relentlessly.
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy also played a big part for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The middle-order batter got 39 runs in 24 balls.
For the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders, it was Blessing Muzarabani who claimed 4 scalps in 4 overs for an economy rate of 10.25.
The team from Hyderabad registered 226 runs in exchange for 8 wickets in the 20 overs. KKR will have to score 227 runs to win the match.
A tough task in front of KKR
In this match, KKR created another moment in their fielding, which is called controversial. In the effort to clinch the wicket of Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy, near the boundary line, takes a controversial catch. The third umpire gave it a out but the question remains, was it a clear catch? The palms of the fileder was very close to the ground, that's why the third umpire found it difficult to take a quick decision.
Sharma had to wait for a while before hearing the final verdict. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, the opening pair of SRH, took the strike rate of the team team near to the sky. Riding high on the early momentum, SRH managed to get a target over 200 in smooth way. Kolkata Knight Riders will have to do a lot of work to chase the target successfully to claim their first win of the season.
